Passively Q-switched erbium doped fiber laser based on graphene and carbon nanotube saturable absorbers

A passively Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) was experimented on by employing graphene, single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) and multi-walled nanotube (MWCNT) saturable absorbers (SA). The SA film obtained embedding the SWCNT MWCNT into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). graphene prepared dipping a PVA thin solution while SAs were using casting method placed in ring cavity to produce stable pulse laser. Graphene, operating at wavelengths of 1558.92 nm, 1557.98 nm 1558.51 respectively, whereas continuous wave 1560.72 input pump power 56 mW. energy, output power, repetition rate width compared SAs. shortest retrieved 3.90 µs, 3.62 µs 4.43 produced 115.00 kHz, 130.70 89.13 respectively. In comparison SAs, exhibit best performance terms 2.19 mW high energy 24.57 nJ EDFL.
